Biopharmaceutical SCADA modernization during plant expansion

JESolutions supported SCADA modernization for KBI Biopharma during a biopharmaceutical plant expansion. The engineering scope included migration from AVEVA Wonderware to GE iFIX, development of operator graphics, and programming for fermenter phase management.

The project also included GMP operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ) documentation. Together, the SCADA migration and engineering deliverables supported the expansion of the plant’s automation environment.

SCADA Platform Migration: Wonderware to iFIX

The SCADA modernization involved transitioning an existing AVEVA Wonderware environment to GE iFIX. JESolutions developed operator-facing SCADA functionality to support the plant’s expanded automation environment and provide process visibility through the updated platform.

Fermenter Phase Management

JESolutions programmed fermenter skid controls using phase-management functionality to support bioprocess operations. This work complemented the SCADA modernization effort and helped integrate fermenter automation into the broader plant controls environment.

SCADA Graphics and GMP Documentation

The engineering scope included SCADA graphics development and GMP documentation supporting operational qualification (OQ) and performance qualification (PQ) activities. These deliverables formed part of the plant expansion and automation modernization effort.
